For 13 years.

For 13 years.

I fiercely loved a black labrador retriever named Harley. He died of old age at thirteen. He was the best dog! He didn't chew, could open doors, was calm, all the good things... My husband and I met at the end of Harley's life. I was devastated with this loss and swore I would never get another dog.

The surprise.

The surprise.

Two years later, my husband thought it would be a great idea to surprise me and our two kids with a puppy on Christmas. Clearly my husband did not understand what a puppy entailed. Sigh.

What we didn't have:

- a crate

- food

- chew toys

- collar and leash

- dog sitter

Nothing, we had nothing but a puppy!

Well, meet 40k

Our spoiled labrador is named River, aka 40k. He kinda got his nickname based on his net worth, which - unfortunately - equals $40,000. Sigh. This is the value of things around here he has destroyed.

All the things.

All the things.

Along the way, my husband and I have created a list that River has destroyed. See over here. <<<<<<

Yes, we had him in dog training. That did help but wasn't a miracle. We even had a dog trainer come to our house to work on two behaviors of concern. We learned that a dog wants to please their master. It's really training for us to be consistent.

I'm glad we figured that out after $40,000.

That moment.

That moment.

One day we took River to the vet for his annual check up. River was so nervous. The vet came in and told us he suffers from anxiety. So, we began conversing on all the belongings he has chewed, his timidness, his inability to just lay down and be still...

I had no clue this was even a thing.

So the vet got us on track to help his anxiety without prescription medication.

The why.

The why.

I'm telling you our true story in hopes of helping you and your pet identify if they suffer from anxiety. I've had dogs throughout my life and LOVE animals. Yet, I had no clue. There is help. There are options without prescriptions.

In addition, we wanted to create a way for families to enjoy their pets, help their anxiety and keep your lifestyle. Hence, Dainty and Dapper Pet Boutique.

By purchasing with us, you help the Humane Society, your pet and our family. Our two sons help us with the orders. It's really nice to see them involved as well.

Now-A-Days.
